FORT PHIL KEARNY STATE HISTORIC SITE - EXIT 44, INTERSTATE 90
SITE ACTIVITIES
8am - 6pm: Site opens, Program Distribution Guided Parking
8:30am: Flag Raising, Living History Units
- 9:00am: Wagon Display, Description, (How Wagons Used to Haul Wood, escort,
contract employees, removal of box, livestock used) FPK Staff
- 10:00am: Weapons Orientation, (Change of weapons, Military and Native
American, between Fetterman and Wagon Box Fight, firing demonstrations) KFR
- 11:00am: Mountain Howitzer Demonstration (Towing, dismounting, loading
firing, types of ammunition, crew at fort etc) KFR
- 12:00-1:00pm: Lunch - Food Service including Sandwiches, Cool/Hot Drinks, Beer,
Refreshments
- 1:00pm: Tactical Drill Demonstration (Difference between open field fighting and
fixed position, moving from marching to fighting, the program will demonstrate tactics
used by both cultures) Co. I-KFR-Michael Terry and Arapaho Tribal Members
- 3:00pm: Women's Dress (Every Dress, Evening/Tea Dress and etiquette) Co. I,
Sylvia, Joann, Rebecca
- 4.00pm: Period Entertainment (Dance, Card Playing, Tea's, Case System,
Music) Question and Answer for Days Programs, group demonstrations, guest/presenter
socialization
- 5:00pm: Flag Lowering Ceremony
- 5:30pm: Dinner. - Food Service including Full Dinner Menu, Cool/Hot Drinks, Beer,
Refreshments
- 6:00pm: Lakota Dance and Music Interpretation- Sequoia Crosswhite, Flute Music
- 6:30pm: Dance - Live Period Music, Instruction, and Dance Calls

The Native American Encampment will include a full tour of a
Historically accurate Indian Family encampment with interpretation and a regalia/artifact
program presented by Michael "Bad Hand" Terry.

The Living History Encampment will include interpreted exhibits of
Officer's, Enlisted Men's, and Civilian's living quarters and contents; weapons
discussions, Artillery, Cavalry, and Infantry interpretation of weapons, equipment, living
conditions, etc. These demonstrations will be ongoing throughout Saturday and Sunday
Morning.

December 21, 2007 141st Anniversary of the
Fetterman Fight, Fort Phil Kearny tour at 9:30 of activities in 1866, carpool to
battlefield, tour through site to combatant positions, attack avenues, weapons, uniform,
tactics, and drill demonstrations followed by hot drinks and snacks, questions and answers
at Interpretive Center. Tour is given whatever the weather conditions.
